Halloween pics...

Tyler

Halloween '08 in review

We had a great beggar's night. The weather was nice so we got alot of kids. And quite a few teenagers. Which, I am probably strange...but I like. You are never to old to trick or treat in my opinion.

Tyler had a good time walking around in the dark in front of our house scaring people. All in good fun, of course. He knew to back off if the really little kids were scared, though. We had parents come up and tell him to go try to scare their kids. I told them he is really a teenage boy and that is way scarier than the costume. The moms would laugh in agreement. (You can't really see the outfit he has on...it is a straight jacket that says it is from an asylum. If you didn't know....Michael Myers escaped from an asylum in the movie to wreak havoc on his hometown on Halloween night.)

The new sound activated witch I bought was well liked too....she appears to float and then her eyes flash red and she says Happy Halloween. We had one woman take a picture of her girls in front of our house so that was very cool.

We have to work extra hard to make our house fun enough to want to stop at...because only 2 other houses on my part of the street pass out candy. Party poopers!

We are already planning what to get for next year....Tyler wants a chain saw to carry around (chainless, obviously), and Brianna wants to add a guillotine (head chopping thing), and I want a casket with a body that pops up out of it. Morbid, maybe...but sooo much fun : )
(More pictures will be posted later. I am having trouble posting pics on here.)

I learn something new every day.

I am ashamed to say that I am a pumpkin carving control freak. I had no idea. Yesterday, Tyler walked away mad at me because I was lecturing him on the proper lid cutting procedure. And Brianna said " See, Mom, this is why we are scared to carve pumpkins around you."
Huh?
Yes, people, my kids would rather poke out their eyeballs than have me carve pumpkins with them. Apparently, this has been a problem for many years.
We did the cute face carvings when they were little. Then I discovered the design books to carve cool scenes. After that, I would carve my pumpkins in the dead of night so no one could do it with me.
Seriously.
But, to be nice...I let Tyler help carve my haunted house design. And turned away when he just went sawing willy-nilly by the windows. Which is delicate work, BTW.
I have serious issues.

Note to self:

Buy the chocolate candy for beggar's night on beggar's night next year.
Because when you have the smart idea to buy it three days in advance because you think you won't eat any....
You will.
As if consuming 900 lbs. of Reese pumpkins wasn't enough....

I heart Halloween : )
Seriously, I get all....dare I say it....giddy with excitement over this holiday.
And yet, I still haven't decorated yet. So obviously my procrastination wins over the excitement of the holiday. I am going to buy pumpkins, corn stalks, and a hay bale today. We will carve the pumpkins...and the corn stalks and hay I will leave up till Thanksgiving with a scarecrow.
I bought Tyler the best costume in all of ever. It is just that cool! He wanted to go with humorous...but I steered him back towards scary. I won't say what it is yet, you have to see the pics. I will say he is dressing up as my all time favorite scary movie dude.
Brianna is dressing up as Lucy from "I Love Lucy". She loves her. And she thinks it is a big improvement over the time I took her out as a bag of jelly beans. Personally, I thought that was one of my most creative moments. I took a heavy duty clear trash bag and fastened it around her arms. I forget how I did that. Anyway, the trash bag was full of balloons aka jelly beans. Sadly, she kept losing the jelly beans along the way. Excellent idea, poor execution of idea.
I also bought this super cool witch that rises in the air and shakes and her eyes glow and all of that good stuff...aaahhhh, the magic of this week : )
OOhhh....and I almost forgot....I bought costumes for two of my dogs. For my lil weiner dog....she got.....a hot dog bun costume. And, I am sitting here giggling over that....just 'cause I think it is a hoot.
I will post pics of all the decorating once it is done. Hopefully that will be finished by Halloween. Don't hold your breath, though : )

A few months ago we bought a puppy. A cute, snuggly, lovely puppy.

A puppy that has transformed right before our very eyes.

Into a pony. . .

A galloping around the house and yard, eat us out of house and home pony.

Not only that....he has special powers.

He is able to ruin things in the blink of an eye.

Shoes are his favorite. Blankets run a close second.

And a couch cushion lost the battle against him as well.

And, to make the game really fun--now he can stand on his hind legs and reach the counter.

It's a good thing we love him so much, that's all I'm sayin'.

The kids and I drove down to southern Ohio to take care of some paperwork at the college Brianna wants to attend.

We stayed four days and did alot of....nothing. Swimming, playing games, watching movies, and reading. My son and his friend spent the evenings in the game room and pool area.

The weather was amazing....warm days and chilly nights. Beautiful fall days, for sure.

We went to a haunted house one of our nights there. Well, they went in. I had a bit of a panic being in the dark so I walked back out. I am getting to be such a chicken as I get older. I wasn't scared of the haunted house....just the dark.

I have never really traveled in the fall. It was so much fun to see the campsites and cabins decorated for Halloween and fall. I will definitely have to go somewhere next fall.

I have reached the pits of wuss-dom. Yes, it's a word....look it up. I thought I was all big and bad cutting myself off of the Wellbutrin. "I don't need no stinkin' antidepressants...". Sigh. Apparently, there is a part of me that does. The part of me that is lying in a puddle of tears in the corner, shaking like a leaf needs something. Really badly. The wuss.

I really do love the idea of less chemicals in my sytem. Love it. But, not if it means I am going to feel near death three of four times a day.

My panic attacks are hitting me hard, and often. Not just the shaky ones....no, it's the "I can't take a deep breath, is this a heart attack, why is this damn room spinning" variety. Good times, good times.

I have no insurance at the moment...but I have to go see Mr. Shrinky Dinky again. I hate going to see him. He looks like Jim Carrey. Jim Carrey as an alcholic on a permanent tropical vacation. Ack...those shirts....they are hideous.

And I always feel the need to mess with his head when we have our "chats". He asks me if I am seeing things that aren't really there. "Dude. If I am seeing them, how will I know they aren't really there?" Do you have thoughts of hurting yourself or others? "Just when they piss me off really bad." Errr. Uhhh.

I believe in getting my money's worth with that man.

Ok, he knows I am joking and he makes me be serious then.

Like, how I seriously need something to stop these freaking panic attacks A.S.A.P.

(Insert witty closing line here. The one I can't come up with. Yet. )

Be patient with me as I learn to navigate around this place called Blogger. I have been looking around at the blogs of former AOL folks and I think I am going to be much slower at learning all of this stuff.
I think I will like it here. Of course, the inner me that hates change is kicking and screaming right now. Never fear..Reese pumpkins will shut her up : )
Right now this blog is public. I still haven't decided if it will remain that way. If I save my AOL past entries to an external hard drive...I most likely will stay public. I really enjoy meeting new people through blogs. So, who knows? Tomorrow I may slam the doors shut like a bar at closing time.

I need a catchy closing phrase....let me think about this for a bit...
Hi everyone.
As in, whoever (whomever?) found their way here through all the commotion.
Not really sure if this is the new home for my blog...it just doesn't feel right yet.
I will give it some time, though.

I will be around to visit everyone's new digs when I figure all of this out.

Peace out : )
